American Airlines Aviation Career Day

An all day event typically held in October. The American Airlines-SIUC Aviation Career Day is designed for high school students in the Chicago area who are interested in Aviation. The event begins at 6 A.M. with check-in at OHare International Airport in Chicago for a flight to Southern Illinois Airport at Carbondale-Murphysboro, Illinois. The selected students will be flown to Carbondale to tour SIUC's renown aviation facilities, the main SIUC campus and, if time is available, the dormitories and the SIUC Student Center. Students will be flown back to Chicago by around 5 P.M. the same day.

Corporate/General Aviation Career Day

General Aviation (GA) is all flying in the USA other than that done by the airlines or the military. GA includes corporate aviation. There are approximately 200,000 GA aircraft in the USA and about 330,000 GA jobs. The career day will include tours of the extensive SIUC Aviation training facilities, briefings by pilots and mechanics currently working in corporate and general aviation, tours of corporate and general aviation aircraft being flown in just for this day, lunch provided by SIUC, a campus tour, and a free T-Shirt to the first 75 student participants to sign up and attend. In addition, students will be able to go on an “Introductory Flight” in an SIUC Aviation Flight aircraft. 


United Airlines Aviation Career Day

An all day event, the United Airlines-SIUC Aviation Career Day is designed for high school students in the Chicago area who are interested in Aviation.
